Card Recipient FAQ

What is FavorDrop?

FavorDrop is a platform that lets businesses show appreciation by sending Favordrop Cards. Businesses use FavorDrop to engage their audiences through promotional campaigns or special events.

What is a Favordrop Discover® Prepaid Card?
The Favordrop Card is a digital card distributed by a business or organization as part of a promotional campaign. You can add it to your Apple Wallet, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet and use it for Tap & Pay transactions at eligible merchant locations.

Apple and Apple Wallet are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Google Wallet is a trademark of Google LLC. Samsung Wallet is a registered trademark of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

Is this a gift card or cash card?
No. Favordrop Cards are promotional prepaid cards for use only at eligible merchants. There is no cash or ATM access.

Is the Favordrop Card physical or digital?
The card is digital only. You must first add the card to your mobile wallet to use it.

Is the Favordrop Card reloadable?
No. A Favordrop Card is a non-reloadable card. Once the card funds have been used or the expiration date has passed, the card will be voided and cannot be reloaded.

Is there a fee to use my Favordrop Card?
No, there are no fees to you for using the card. The funds on your card are available for purchases at eligible merchants until the “Valid Thru” date.

Can I see who sent me the card?
Yes. The business or organization that sent your Favordrop Card is typically shown in the Claim Form.

What do I need in order to use my Favordrop Card?
You’ll need access to the email address or phone number where the card link was sent and a smartphone with a mobile wallet such as Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or Samsung Wallet.

Card Delivery & Setup

How do I receive my Favordrop Card?
Once you've completed the Claim Form and consented to receive your card, you’ll get an SMS or an email alerting you that the card is ready to view in the FavorDrop Digital Wallet (https://favordrop.com/wallet). In order to access the Favordrop Digital Wallet, you will need to provide a OTP (one-time-password) sent to your phone number or email address. Once confirmed, you will see the Favordrop Digital Wallet.

How do I add the Favordrop Card to my device’s mobile wallet?
Inside the FavorDrop Digital Wallet, you can view the Favordrop Cards that are associated with your email address or phone number. Click on the card to view instructions for adding the Favordrop Card to your mobile wallet.

Do I need to activate the card?
No. Your card is already active once you receive it. Just add it to your Apple Wallet, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet to use for Tap & Pay purchases at eligible merchants who accept contactless payments.

Can I add the card to multiple devices?
No. Your Favordrop Card is meant to be added to one mobile wallet on one device. Attempting to add it to multiple devices may cause errors or block usage.

Using Your Card

How can I use my Favordrop Prepaid Card?
Please ensure the Near Field Communication (NFC) feature is enabled on your device. Open the mobile wallet on your device and select the card you want to use. Hold the device near the contactless payment reader until the payment is accepted.
If you have other payment methods saved in your mobile wallet, make sure the Favordrop Card is chosen as the payment method and not a different card.
If the merchant is having difficulty accepting the Favordrop Card payment you may need to try at another contactless payment reader. Some merchants may allow you to key in your card details to continue processing the transaction.

Where can I use my card? Your card works only at certain types of stores or businesses. Each merchant has a special code called a Merchant Category Code (MCC) that identifies what kind of business it is. Depending on the card you received, you can use it at Dining/Food, Grocery/Hardware, or Fuel/EVA/Auto Services merchants.

Do I need to use the full card balance at once?
No, you can use your Favordrop Card for multiple transactions, as long as:

  • Each purchase is made at an eligible merchant,
  • The transaction occurs before the card’s expiration date, and
  • The remaining balance covers the amount of the purchase.

You can view your card’s expiration in the FavorDrop Digital Wallet and check your balance by calling 1-800-915-1230.

What if my purchase costs more than the card balance? If your transaction total exceeds your Favordrop Card balance, you can ask the cashier to split the payment—use your Favordrop Card for part of the amount and another payment method for the rest.

Can I transfer the card to someone else?
No. The card is issued to you and is not transferable.

Can I use my card to pay at the gas pump?
If you received a Favordrop Card for Fuel/EVA/Automotive Services, you can use it to purchase gas. However, you must go inside the gas station and prepay a set dollar amount at the register—your card cannot be used for pay-at-the-pump purchases.

Can I get cash back or withdraw cash? No. Your Favordrop Card cannot be used to get cash back or make ATM withdrawals.

Expiration

Does my card expire?
Yes, once the card funds have been used or the expiration date has passed, the card will be voided.

When does the card expire?
See the “Valid Thru” date on your card.

What happens if I don’t use the card before it expires? Once the expiration date has passed, the card will be voided. You will not be able use the card or claim the funds on the card after the expiration date and it will not be replaced.
